Marxism is a political "concept" which when put in practice is Socialism, whose ultimate goal is Communism.
Marx and his followers use a lot of slogans and terms; such as proletariat, oppressed classes, meaning the workers (which mean the employees) against the capitalists (which means the employers).
In order to accomplish the goal of taking away the alleged power of the capitalists and allegedly returning it to the proletariat (the employees), Marx has concocted a system where the State is in control of the individulal , and there are no individual freedoms. This is in direct contrast with the American concept of a society where individuals have rights of individual opportunities, and where individuals are (for the most part) in control of their own destinies instead of the state.
But if you want a deeper view, glance through the below text.
Marxism is a body of social, political, and economic concepts derived from the writings of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. Various schools of Marxism have emerged since Marx's death in 1883, and some of these remain influential today in the form of Socialism and Communism. Marx's vision of socialized society villainized the family and the church. Some socialist concepts can be found in Biblical history. but a society under God's direction where everyone is working underGod and for God bears no resemblance to socialism in a secular world where the "state" is God.
Ultimately, total destruction of a structure of society and its inherents such as Family and Church becomes necessary, requiring adoption of children into the envelope of the state. Marx recommended to be done through educational indoctrination.
In this battle, which rages throughout society, the capitalists are aided by their wealth, their control of the state, and their domination over other institutions—schools, media, churches—that guide and distort people's thinking. Marx believed that once most workers recognized their interests and became "class conscious," the overthrow of capitalism would proceed as quickly and democratically as the nature of capitalist opposition allowed. The socialist society that would emerge out of the revolution would develop the full productive potential inherited from capitalism through democratic planning on behalf of social needs. The final goal, toward which socialist society would constantly build, is the human one of abolishing alienation.
Marx called the attainment of this goal, Communism.
So, now you know that Marxism, Socialism, and Communism are all basically the same concept. And, what is that concept?
Pretty simple: To put the State in control of the People. To take money and property away from one person and give it to another person. Redistribution of Wealth. A "new" Society, if you will.
Here is an interesting quote from a recent Socialist source: "The necessity for a socialist solution to the contradictions, crimes and horrors of capitalism is greater than ever before." This from a nation whose Socialist policies require it to look to our Capitalist nation for handouts.
Other interesting quotes found on the Internet:
Our ignorance stems from confusion, I guess. If socialism works so well in Cuba, why do so many risk death to escape to the U.S.?
Scandinavian socialism has real pluses, such as a waiting list for major surgery and some of the highest taxes in the world.
One must not forget China, when everyone must have ``smiley faces'' when there is no freedom of speech, press or religion. And ... if you have more than one child, you're imprisoned. ...
And my own; let's not forget the great U.S.S.R.?
Is this a quote from the old U.S.S.R.? "Under socialism, Everyone controls the means of producion amd distribution as an entire body. Since everyone will be working together under a free and democratic society, there will be no need for government.
Nope, that is the Socialsit view TODAY. Under the (non-existant) govenmnent of the old U.S.S.R. millions (perhaps 25 million) were murdered because they dared to even "think" different than their government.
Communism is the corruption of a dream of justice.
From each, according to his ability; to each, according to his need.
The function of socialism is to raise suffering to a higher level.
The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings;
the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.
Why should I, as a Christian and an American, be concerned about such things. We know such a thing does not work, simply by observing history.
Yeah. You know it doesn't work. History has clearly demonstrated that, but there are a lot of Americans today that don't know it.
Many of those are already in the U.S. Congress.
"Impossible", you say! "Socialism in America"?
Well, go take a look at this page. Click Here
Read it carefully, and begin to worry a GREAT DEAL. Jot down the names of those American
Congressmen and Congresswomen who are members of the D.S.A. (Democratic Socialists of America)
You may also want to do as I did; run an Internet search for Socialism. YOU WILL BE SHOCKED!
As you continue into Marxism, Final Chapter (next page) , please remember; There have been a lot of great men and women down through history: but name one great village?
One ultimate goal of the Socialist is "communal ownership". What does that mean to you?
